Lucille E Irland

Lucille E. Irland age 97 of Beaver Lake, Nebraska passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 26th, 2025, at her residence.  Lucille was born on Monday, May 16th, 1927, in Riverton, IA, to Henry and Ethel (Weston) Aspedon.

Lucille graduated from Nebraska City High School and then taught school at Beehive Elementary near Riverton until marriage.  On July 3, 1949, Lucille united in marriage with Kenneth L. Irland at the First Christian Church in Nebraska City, NE. Together, they built a life filled with love and joy until Kenneth’s passing. As a devoted homemaker, Lucille created a home that was warm and welcoming to all. One of Lucille’s greatest joys was her lake home at Beaver Lake, which she cherished since 1989. It was there that she spent many delightful days surrounded by family and friends, sharing stories, laughter, and love. A skilled bridge player, Lucille enjoyed playing cards and socializing with her dear friends over the years.

Lucille is survived by her loving children: Bill (Julie) Irland of Omaha, NE, Ken Irland of Springfield, IL, Mark (Cheryl) Irland of Grinnell, IA, and Shannon (Mike) Henry of Plattsmouth, NE. Her life was further enriched by her five grandchildren: Andy, Jill, Alex, Ben, and Kyle Irland and 6 great grandchildren.  She is also survived by her sister, Shirley Andrews of Omaha, sisters-in-law, Merna Irland of Syracuse, NE and Coleen Irland of Lincoln, NE

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Ethel Aspedon, husband Kenneth Irland, sister, Louise Aspedon, brothers, James Aspedon, Fred Aspedon and Bob Aspedon.

A private family graveside service will be held at the Riverton Cemetery in Riverton, Iowa at a later date.
