Lynda Lea Thacker, age 72 of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away peacefully in the arms of her loved ones on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at Nebraska Methodist Hospital. She was born on April 15, 1952, in Omaha to George Snelling Sr. and Thelma (Manners) Pyatte.
Lynda was united in marriage on June 27, 1970, to Charles (Chuck) Thacker, and together they shared four children; Jerry, Lauri, Rhonda, and Mark. Lynda was a devoted Mother, Grammy, and friend who was dedicated both personally and professionally. She worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at Synergy Home Care where her compassion, kindness, and dedication affected many lives, with many clients becoming friends.
For Lynda, faith and family were the center of her world. She was a woman of Christ that stood strong in her religion. She enjoyed going to all of her grandkids and great-grandkid's sports and extracurricular activities and loved to cheer them on loudly. She also looked forward to all of her lunch dates and Starbucks trips with cousins and friends. Lynda was known for her love of anything that involved shopping, singing karaoke, dancing, and creating memories. She religiously cheered on the Nebraska Cornhuskers and her Kansas City Chiefs. Everyone who had the pleasure of meeting Lynda adored her. She lived her life to the fullest. She was very spunky and loved to make others laugh. She brought joy to many with her vibrant spirit and infectious enthusiasm.
She is survived by her mom, Betty Jenkins of Shawnee Mission, KS; her beloved dog, Bella Marie Thacker; her daughters, Lauri (Brian Bavaro) Thacker of Kansas City, MO, and Rhonda (Tim) Nelson of Bennington, NE; her sons, Jerry Thacker of Kansas City, MO, and Mark (Holly) Thacker of Shelby, MI; her siblings, Larry (Les) Wittrup of Roseville, CA, Marty Rubeck of Blair, NE, Mary Kay Ferneau of Lincoln, NE, Thomas Coonce of Red Oak, IA, and Lori Snyder of Bow, WA; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many precious cousins and loving friends.
Lynda was preceded in death by her parents, George Snelling, Sr., and Thelma Pyatte; her brothers George Snelling, Jr. and Larry Snelling; and Ex-husbands Chuck Thacker and Larry Cooper.
A funeral service will be held in Lynda’s honor on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Brian P. Harvey Funeral Home in Plattsmouth, Nebraska. A Visitation will be held one hour before the service (10:00 - 11:00 AM). Lunch, following the gravesite service, will be at Margarita's Grill and Cantina, 16304 Westside Dr suite 100, Plattsmouth, NE 68048.
Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation.
