Margaret "Peg" E Chesley

Margaret E. “Peg” Chesley age 87 of Plattsmouth, Nebraska was born on July 8, 1932 in Grand Island, Nebraska to Herman and Hulda (Horstman) Mewes.  She passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at the Bellevue Medical Center in Bellevue, Nebraska.

Peg was raised in Grand Island and graduated from Grand Island High School with the Class of 1950.  She and Dale E. Chesley were married on December 25, 1954 in Grand Island.  Dale’s career in public education, brought them to Plattsmouth in 1967.  Throughout the years, she worked as a store clerk for both Ruback’s and Jack & Jill Grocery Stores.

After Dale’s retirement, they enjoyed spending time during the winter in Texas and traveling to various places.  She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Plattsmouth where she was active in the Women’s Guild and sang with the Choir.  She enjoyed spending time with family and friends including game days with her church friends.

She is survived by her Daughter, Ann (Mike) VanCleve, LaVista, NE, Grandchildren, Megan (Mike) Ferring, Lindsey VanCleve and Martha (fiancé Greg Rudd) Chesley, great grandchildren, Brayden, Deacon, Mackenzie and Beverly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dale Chesley, son Todd Chesley, sister Maxine Vecera, brother Wilmer Mewes.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the First Lutheran Church in Plattsmouth, Nebraska with Rev. Lloyd Stuhr officiating.

Burial will take place at a later date in the Omaha National Cemetery.

No Visitation.

Memorials may be directed in lieu of flowers to First Lutheran Church.
