Mark Edward Covey of Plattsmouth, Nebraska, formerly of Colorado, passed away on August 29, 2026, surrounded by the love of his children. Born on January 2, 1939, in Olympia, Washington, to Earl William and Jane Ellen (Munson) Covey, Mark built a life defined not by what he accomplished, but by those he loved.

On November 20, 1955, Mark married the love of his life, Karen, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Aurelia, Iowa. Together they shared more than six decades of partnership, devotion, and adventure. Their greatest joy was raising their four children, Scott, Lynn, Matthew, and Joseph, teaching values and morals that threaded through the lives of his family. He took immense pride in watching his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren grow and thrive.

Throughout his career in sales, from Western Auto in Council Bluffs to Morton Buildings in Britt, Iowa, and later Phil Long Ford in Morrison, Colorado, Mark was respected for his hard work and dedication, setting the standard for all around him.

Mark found happiness in life's simple pleasures. He loved playing and watching golf, and some of his most treasured moments were spent on the golf course with his sons, sharing advice, stories, and laughter. He took pride in caring for his lawn and enjoyed quiet moments watching the wild birds that he and Karen lovingly nurtured together, and sitting on his perfectly level deck having a good cigar. Whether hiking in the Colorado mountains, traveling to visit loved ones across the country and abroad, or gathering for holidays and summer vacations, Mark treasured every opportunity to be with family.

Mark was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Karen, and his sister, Jane Elaine Mohor. While their reunion brings comfort, his absence leaves an immeasurable void in the lives of those who loved him.

He is survived by his brother, Jim Covey (Mary); his four children, Scott (Victoria), Lynn (Bruce), Matthew (Tracie), and Joseph; his grandchildren, Rebecca, Catherine (Mike), Elizabeth (Jason), Christopher; and his great-grandchildren, Byron, Alexander, Jackson, William, Emma, and Ella. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
