Mary Joanna Wetenkamp-Anderson, age 52 of St. Paul, Minnesota passed away on Friday, August 8, 2025, at her home. Born on November 29, 1972, in Omaha, Nebraska to G. Albert & Rebecca (Zimmerman) Wetenkamp.
Mary grew up in Plattsmouth, NE, where she attended Plattsmouth Community Schools. From a young age, her adventurous spirit and boundless creativity shone through in everything she did. Over the years, she followed her curiosity into a wide variety of work, from selling cars to crafting boat patterns - thriving wherever she could put her talents and determination to use.
Mary had a deep love for animals, whether it was riding her beloved horse Penny, or caring for her one-legged guinea hen, Tuffy. She had a gift for taming creatures of all kinds, often forming connections that seemed almost magical. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures - casting a line while fishing, tending to her garden, diving into any craft or DIY project she could imagine, and cooking meals that brought her family together.
Mary faced her battle with kidney cancer with the same strength and grit that defined her life. She made every holiday, birthday, and special moment unforgettable - “Go big or go home” was her way of showing love. Her fierce loyalty, limitless generosity, and tireless effort in everything she pursued left an impact on everyone she met. Mary was a friend to all, and her warmth will be deeply missed.
Mary is survived by her cherished children, Jaycie Wetenkamp, Timmy Wetenkamp, and Austin Lingen, her mother, Becky Wetenkamp, and brother, Marty Wetenkamp and his girlfriend Mandi Lackas, all of Plattsmouth, NE, niece Lexi Jahay and husband Cody of Hazelton, KS and nephew Colton Wetenkamp of Plattsmouth, NE, stepdaughter Jocelyn Jacoby and her husband Martin of Jinja, Uganda, and cousin Abby Conrad of Iowa. Mary leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who were touched by her warmth and kindness.
Preceding her in death were her father, G. Albert Wetenkamp, and her grandparents, Glenn and Agnes Wetenkamp, and Bob and Edris Zimmerman.
A visitation will be held at the Brian P. Harvey Funeral Home in Plattsmouth, NE, on Friday, September 5th, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. with family greeting friends.
A memorial service to celebrate Mary's life will be held at Mynard Liberty United Methodist Church in Mynard, NE, on Saturday, September 6th, 2025, at 10:30 am with a luncheon to follow after the gravesite service at Oak Hill.
Memorial donations can be made to the family for future designation.
