Meredith Joy Dietl

Meredith Joy (Heneger) Dietl passed away on September 1st, 2023 in Plattsmouth, Nebraska at the age of 105. She was born on December 26, 1917 to Ed and Emma (Mitchel) Heneger in Grand Island Nebraska. Meredith was married to the love of her life, John Dietl for 61 years on May 28, 1938 in Papillion, Nebraska. They raised three daughters, Jane, Connie, and Diana on their family farm in rural Cass County. Meredith was a true example of a traditional farm wife raising their children, taking passion in growing and preserving the family’s food from her garden, sewing many of their clothes, taking meals out to the field to feed the farm hands, and even going to pick up parts for the tractors.

Her proudest accomplishments were her children, three grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren and there was no one more perfect in her eyes. Many considered Meredith as “their grandma” and she lovingly embraced her title.

Meredith is survived by her daughter, Connie Bowers (Richard), her grandson John Meredith (Becci), granddaughter Courtney Wulf, (Thomas), and granddaughter Miranda Wistrom (Tracey), great grandchildren David, Luke, Seth, Delanie, Addison, Hank, and Della. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Jim, daughters Jane and Diana Dietl, and beloved husband, John Dietl.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at 1:00 PM at The Nebraska Masonic Home Chapel, 1300 Avenue D, Plattsmouth, NE, with Chris Abbott officiating.

Visitation will be one hour before services.
