Mike A Kennedy

Michael A. "Mike" Kennedy age 68 of Plattsmouth was born on April 6, 1951 in Nebraska City, Nebraska.  He passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2019 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Mike grew up in Plattsmouth, Nebraska graduating from Plattsmouth High School in 1970.  After high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy serving for 2 ½ years during the Vietnam War.  Once returning to Plattsmouth, he met and later married Bonnie Pletan on May 28, 1977 at the First Lutheran Church in Plattsmouth.  Together they made their home in Plattsmouth and raised two children, Brandi and Justin.

Mike worked as an Iron Worker for many years and most recently worked for Horwath Machinery in Omaha, NE as a Machine Mechanic.  He was a member of the Lepert-Wolever Post #2543 VFW of Plattsmouth.  He loved riding his motorcycle including his most recent trip to visit the Vietnam Memorial and Pentagon in Washington, DC.  He enjoyed fireworks on the 4 ^th of July, Christmas time with family, taking slow drives through the country, talking with friends and sitting watching the History Channel.  Mike’s greatest love was his family, spending time with his children, grandchildren and his dog, Itsy was his most important role in life.

Mike is survived by his wife, Bonnie Kennedy of Plattsmouth, NE, children, Brandi (Luke) Colbert of Plattsmouth, NE, Justin Kennedy of Plattsmouth, NE, grandchildren, Bryce Kennedy, Lainey Colbert, Skylar Kennedy, Gavin Colbert, and Kynslee Kennedy, mother, Lavern Jones of South Bend, NE, siblings, Patti (Jim) Feldman of Maryland, Cheryl (Wally) Taylor of South Bend, NE, Darla (Bear) Hood of Omaha, NE and Laura Jones, Archie Jones, Kasey Wipf, Chris Kirchert, Linda Meyers.  He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

Preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Pearl Dasher and Gene Jones.

A celebration of Mike's Life will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Harvey Funeral Home, Plattsmouth, NE.
