Miriam E Payton

Miriam Eloise (Haswell) Payton was born on January 24,1927 in Louisville, Nebraska to Lee Joseph and Clara Elizabeth (Parker) Haswell. She passed away on Friday, August 27, 2010 at her home in Bellevue, Nebraska at the age of 83 years, 7 months and 3 days. After graduating from High School, she met Ralph Payton and they were united in marriage on January 4, 1947 in Hiawatha, Kansas. Together they raised two children, Jeri and Penney and celebrated 63 years of marriage in 2010. Miriam was a homemaker and took great pride in caring for her family and home. During her early years, while her children were in school, she was a member of extension clubs and led 4-H Groups. Her favorite color is Pink and prior to moving to Bellevue, she lived in a Pink House and drove a Pink Car. One of her favorite past times was writing cards for birthdays, anniversaries and Christmas. She never forgot to send a card to people in celebration of their special occasion. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles and spending time with family. She is survived by her Husband: Ralph Payton of Bellevue, NE; Daughters: Jeri Thiede and husband Gary of Grand Island, NE; Penney Jackson of Bellevue, NE; Grandchildren: Gene Surber, Timothy Thiede, Stephanie Busby and husband Stephen, Joshua Jowers; Step-Grandchildren: Dana Jowers, Danielle Jowers, April Jowers. 11 Great Grandchildren. Sisters: Florence Raboldt and husband Harry of Morehaven, FL; Ruth Johnson and husband Tom of Nehawka, NE; Brothers: Joy Haswell and wife Shirley of Plattsmouth, NE; Gene Haswell of Seargent, NE: Dale Bruns and wife Janet of Plattsmouth, NE; Brother-in-law: Harold Payton and wife Marjorie of Plattsmouth. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and close friends. Se was preceded in death by Parents and step father: Albert Bruns Graveside services will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the Avoca Cemetery in Avoca, Nebraska with Rev. Dan Nietfeld officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 from 1:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. with family greeting friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home.
