Norman D Sunderman

Norman Dean Sunderman age 79 of Plattsmouth, Nebraska was born on July 2, 1938 in Villisca, IA to Lorenz F. and Beulah J. (Hughes) Sunderman.  He passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2017 surrounded by his family at his home in Plattsmouth, Nebraska. Norm was raised in Clarinda, Iowa and graduated from Clarinda High School.  Shortly after high school, he was united in marriage to Hazel I. Taylor on February 10, 1957 in Clarinda, IA.  He proudly served his country for 8 years in the Army National Guard.  He joined the Construction Laborers Union, Local #1140 and eventually worked his way to being the business manager and Secretary/Treasurer for Local #1140 before retiring in 1997 after 40 years.  Norm and Hazel had a large family and time spent with family was a very important part of their day to day lives.  They enjoyed attending sporting events, concerts and other activities of their children and grandchildren throughout the years.  Family gatherings, camping trips and other family activities were always a highlight to Norm.  Aside from family, he served on the Plattsmouth City Council, was a member and former Trustee at Living Water Church, a member of the American Legion, Local #1140 and the F.O.O.L’s Club.  Norm enjoyed winters in Arizona, traveling,  taking cruises and working on car restoration.  He was an avid Nebraska Football fan and also enjoyed the Kansas City Royals.  He is survived by his wife, Hazel Sunderman of Plattsmouth, children, Chris (Laura) Sunderman of Auburn, Dana (John) Torres, Debbie (Jeff) Chinnow, Craig Sunderman, Kirk (Sue) Sunderman, Kevin (Michelle) Sunderman all of Plattsmouth,, 16 Grandchildren, Jason (Amber) Sunderman, Jeremy (Kristina) Sunderman, Alissa (Brian) Swift, Amy (Joel) Dix, Angie (Zane) Schaefer, Aubry (TJ Stark) Torres, Eric (Nikki Brummer) VanGroningen, Jena VanGroningen, Jessica (Zack) Heenan, Ashley (Jay Scurlocke) Sunderman, Marisa Sunderman, Taylor Sunderman, Cheri Sunderman, Missy (Mike) Wooten, Travis Ritter, Stephen Sapp, Tamra (Andy) Wheeler and 24 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Lyle Sunderman. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday September 12, 2017 at 1:00 PM. At Living Water Church in Plattsmouth, NE with Dr. Allan Wooters officiating. Visitation will be Monday, September 11, 2017 from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM with family greeting friends from 6-8 PM at Living Water Church.
