Paula Marie Croasdale, age 74 of Plattsmouth, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2026 at the Eastern Nebraska Veterans Home in Bellevue, Nebraska. Born on March 21, 1952, in Chicopee, Massachusetts, to Rodney and Pauline (St. James) Keene.
She graduated from high school in Chicopee and soon began a fulfilling career in healthcare. Before her marriage, Paula worked as a labor and delivery nurse. In 1975, she enlisted in the United States Air Force as a nurse, serving her country with honor and commitment. After leaving active duty in 1983, Paula continued her dedication to service in the Air Force Reserves, ultimately retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel after 28 years of distinguished service. Throughout her nursing career, Paula held positions in the VA Hospital ER, at Midwest Minor Medical, and in various clinics, where she was widely respected for her expertise and compassionate care.
Paula's love for animals, particularly her cherished horses and dogs, reflects her nurturing spirit. Her hobbies included knitting, quilting, scrapbooking, and gardening. Known for her strong work ethic, Paula found her greatest joy in the moments spent with her family, especially in the company of her beloved grandchildren.
Paula is survived by her devoted husband, John (Rick) Croasdale of Plattsmouth, NE; her children, John (Lesa) Croasdale II of Bellevue, NE, Danielle (Daniel) Patterson of LaVista, NE, Julie Croasdale of Manhatten, KS, grandchildren, Abigail Patterson, Evelyn Patterson, and Jonathan Croasdale. She is also survived by her brother, Curry "Rusty" (Lois) Thompson of Springfield, MO.
She was preceded in death by her mother Pauline Keene.
Funeral services for Paula will be held on July 9, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Bellevue, Nebraska. Visitation will be held on July 8, 2026 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, followed by a Rosary at 7:00 PM. Burial with full military honors will be at 1:30 PM on July 9, 2026 at the Omaha National Cemetery.
