Phillip David Peters age 83 of Plattsmouth was born on September 12, 1935 in Whitelake, SD to Matt L. and Ella (Davis) Peters. He passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 surrounded by family at his home in Plattsmouth, Nebraska.
He grew up near Platte, South Dakota and graduated from Platte High School. Soon after graduation, he enlisted in the United State Air Force. Throughout his 20 year career, he traveled throughout the world. His service was during the height of the Vietnam War. He retired from active duty in 1974 having obtained the rank of Master Sargent. After his military career, he worked as a self-employed carpenter. Along with his son, Mike, they built and remodeled homes throughout the area.
On March 16, 2004, he was united in marriage to Lora D (Upton) Johnson in Papillion, Nebraska. They made their retirement home in Plattsmouth and enjoyed taking RV trips. His work was often his hobby and he enjoyed working and tinkering with many projects. He also enjoyed time with family and going fishing.
He is survived by wife, Lora Johnson of Plattsmouth, NE, children, Tammie (Mark) Romberg of Columbus, NE, Mike (Pam) Peters of Plattsmouth, NE, Brenda Paul of Bellevue, NE, step-children, Jayne (Dennis) Halmai of Boerne, TX, Jackie Argarin of New Braunfels, TX, Joseph (Katie) Johnson of Port Townsend, WA, grandchildren, Josh & Jaclyn Romberg, David (Keri) Peters, Lindsay Paul, Alli (Tanner) Bowman, step grandchildren, Madison & Mason Halmai, Tyler Jackson, Emberlyn Argarin, Oliver & Henry Johnson, great great grandchildren, Jackson Romberg, Kane & Teagen Peters, Scarlett, Knox & Huxley Bowman, brother & sisters, Jim (Judy) Peters of Dell Rapids, SD, Karen Miller of East Moline, IL, Mary (Dudley) Harsaager of Yankton, SD.
He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Stacey Romberg, brothers, Donald, Arlo (Infant) and Keith.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at 10:30 AM at Harvey Funeral Home Chapel in Plattsmouth, NE with Father Michael Houlihan officiating.
Visitation will be Monday, April 15, 2019 from 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM with family greeting friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM followed by a Rosary at 7:00 PM at the Funeral Home.
Memorials may be directed to the Wounded Warrior Project or St. Judes.
