Fusaro, MD, Ph.D. age 92 of Plattsmouth, Nebraska passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at Prestige Care of Plattsmouth. He was born on March 6, 1927 in Brooklyn, New York to Angelo and Ida Fusaro. Dr. Fusaro served in the United States Navy from 1945 to 1946. After his discharge, he moved to Minnesota where he in enrolled in the University of Minnesota. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts in 1949, Bachelor of Science in 1951 and Doctor of Medicine degree in 1953. He began his teaching career at the University Minnesota from 1957 to 1970 and the director of the university’s outpatient dermatology clinic from 1962 to 1970. During this time, he continued his education, earning a Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy in 1958 and 1965 respectively. In 1970, he was named chairman of the dermatology department at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and in 1975 was additionally appointed to the same post at Creighton University School of Medicine. He continued in these roles until his retirement in 2008. During this time, he also oversaw the dermatology residency program of the Creighton-Nebraska University Health Foundation and also served as acting chief of dermatology. On November 6, 1971, Ramon was united in marriage to LaVonne (Johnsen) Weschcke in Watertown, South Dakota. The two eventually made their home in Beaver Lake, Nebraska. They built one of the first homes on the lake and together enjoyed all that the lake had to offer. Their home was surrounded by their beautiful rose gardens which they enjoyed sharing with their friends and neighbors. Dr. Fusaro was a diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology, member of the American Academy of Dermatology and Sigma Xi. He was a contributor of many articles to professional publications of which he was both proud and honored. He is survived by his children, Lisa Fusaro of Madison, WI, Jeff (Jeanine) Weschcke of Oakdale, MN, Scott (Peggy) Weschcke of Beaver Lake, NE, son-in-law, Tom Marshall of Marietta, GA, grandchildren, Lauren Marshall, Christen (Brian) St. Michel, Kathleen Weschcke, Tiffany (Brent) Irey, Jacob Childs, great grandchildren, Robbie St. Michel, Tyler Childs, Alyssa Childs, Samantha McCarthy, Paige Irey and Paislee Irey, sister-in-law, Gloria Fusaro. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife LaVonne Fusaro, daughter, Tony Marshall, brothers, Clarence and Robert Fusaro. A celebration of the Life of Dr. Ramon Fusaro AT A LATER DATE at the First Presbyterian Church in Plattsmouth with Rev. Matt Coplen officiating. Burial will be in the Rushmore, Minnesota Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the First Presbyterian Church.
