Richard A. Erixson, Jr. of Union, NE, passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2011 in Omaha, NE at the age of 51 years, 11 months and 29 days. He was born on August 1, 1959 in Lincoln, NE to Richard A and Clara I. (Weckwerth) Erixson.
He was united in marriage to Barbara McKillip on May 16, 1981 in Lincoln, NE. To this union were born 3 daughters Sarah, Marsha and Arianna.
Richard grew up in Lincoln, NE where he graduated from Lincoln East High School in 1978. He attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln majoring in education. He furthered his education with graduate work in Quality Management.
At the time of his death he lived with his family in Union, NE and was working for Distefano Tool and Manufacturing as the Quality Manager.
Richard was a member of Living Water Church in Plattsmouth, Christian Motorcycle Association, NRA, Union Volunteer Fire Department and Ducks Unlimited. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed being outdoors. He also took part in buying and fixing up Willy’s jeeps and collecting Civil War memorable, firearms and Burlington Route model trains. His most valuable asset was his family and the time he spent with them. Richard was known for his big heart and willingness to help others even those he did not know.
He is survived by his wife Barbara of Union; Daughters Sarah (John) Carter of Omaha; Marsha and fiancé Mat Thompson of Lincoln; Arianna of Union; Parents Richard and Clara Erixson of Crawford, NE; Brothers and Sisters: Michael (Rita) Erixson of Lincoln; John (Michaela) Erixson of Potlatch, ID; Jim (Michelle) Erixson of Alliance, NE; Carolyn Erixson of Lincoln: Mother-in-law JoAnn McKillip of Lincoln; Brother-in-law Ken (Carmen) McKillip of Lincoln, also many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his Father-in-law Robert McKillip.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 3rd at 1:30 P.M. - 2nd Baptist Church, 525 N. 58th Street – Lincoln, NE with Dr. Allan Wooters officiating.
Visitation will be with the family greeting and receiving friends from 6-8 PM, Tues. August 2nd at Harvey Funeral Home, Plattsmouth, NE.
Memorials will be directed to the family.
