Richard Frank Vandoren

Richard VanDoren, age 83, of Plattsmouth, passed away at his home, Monday, August 29, 2022. Richard was born October 24, 1938, in Cleveland, Ohio to Frank and Vera (Bowman) VanDoren.

Rick met and was united in marriage to Alice Marie Rexroat on June 13, 1959, in Charleston, Illinois. They lived in various communities during Rick’s time in the Air Force before settling in Plattsmouth, Nebraska in 1973.  Together they had two sons, Charles, and Michael. Rick served 22 years in the U.S. Air Force as a musician.  Upon his retirement from the Air Force, he was a driver and scheduler for Metro Area Transit. Richard enjoyed listening to music, trying new restaurants, and loved Nebraska Football.

Richard is survived by his son, Charles (Sally) VanDoren of Hastings, IA, daughter in law, Cassandra VanDoren, of Colorado Springs, CO, grandson, Michael Van Doren II of Atlanta, GA, granddaughter Jennifer Garaer of Colorado Springs, CO, brothers John VanDoren of Rancho Cucamonga, CA and Jim VanDoren of Portland, OR.

He is preceded in death by parents, his wife, Alice VanDoren, and son Michael VanDoren.

Graveside services for Richard will be Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at 11 AM at the Omaha National Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation.
