Robert (Bob) Eugene Colbert, 83, died Saturday August 26, 2023, at the Louisville Care Center.
He leaves his wife of 63 years, Dorothy Jean (Massoth) Colbert of Plattsmouth, NE, children, Scott (Shari) Colbert of Omaha, NE, Kelly Pellan of Plattsmouth, NE, and Carrie (Mike) Beam of Kansas City, MO. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Luke & Brandi Colbert, Jonna & James Carroll, Tessa & Jordan Pandil, Lacey Sprague, Jamie Pellan, Ryan & Mackenzie Wipf, Mackenzie Beam, Lexie Beam, Dan & Raquel Beam and Zach Beam, 19 great grandchildren and twin brother, James Colbert of Louisville, NE, nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Bob was born April 27, 1940, to Lloyd and Pauline (Stubbendeck) Colbert. He grew up in the Weeping Water area, graduating in 1957 from Weeping Water High School. He and his brother attended a year at the University of Nebraska on a football scholarship. He met his wife Jean at Weeping Water High School and married in 1960 at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Manley. Following their marriage, Bob and Jean moved to Topeka, Kansas, where he was employed as a manager at Kresge’s department store. Returning to Nebraska he was employed by PAG as a seed corn salesman in Beatrice, Ne. They eventually moved to Plattsmouth, where Bob was employed by Nebraska Furniture Mart as an Appliance Service Supervisor until his retirement. Following his retirement, Bob became the Plattsmouth toll bridge manager for several years.
Bob was devoted to his wife Jean and relished the time spent with his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and his beloved pets, Fred, Mandy, Molly and Snickers. In Bob’s spare time, he could be found watching football games, playing cards with his friends, golfing, fishing, or playing a few games of Keno. Bob was a kind generous person who never hesitated to help anyone that was in need of his expertise.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, and grandson Josh Colbert.
Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at 11:00 AM at the Plattsmouth Bible Church, 1602 1st Avenue, Plattsmouth, NE with Rev. Mike Wolfe officiating. Visitation will be one hour before services at the Church. A private inurnment service will be held in Evergreen Cemetery in Omaha, Nebraska.
Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation.
