Robert "Bob" J. Combs, age 54, of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away on August 14, 2024. Bob was born on April 5, 1970, to Gary and Alyce (Buhlman) Combs in Omaha, Nebraska.
Bob grew up in Plattsmouth, Nebraska, where he graduated from Plattsmouth High School in 1988. A standout athlete, Bob often self-proclaimed the title of greatest quarterback in the school's history. His passion for athletics remained with him throughout his life, as he avidly supported his favorite teams: the Minnesota Vikings, the Nebraska Cornhuskers, the Boston Celtics, and the Minnesota Twins.
Following high school, Bob pursued a career as a plumber, becoming a member of the local #16 Union
Outside of work, Bob was a man of many interests. He loved spending time with his children and enjoyed fishing, golf, bowling, and cooking—especially smoking BBQ for friends and family. Bob had a love for rock music and his enthusiasm for life was evident in everything he did. He had a knack for bringing people together with his outgoing personality and he made countless friends throughout his lifetime. He was a beloved father, partner, son, brother, uncle, and friend, and will be remembered for his infectious energy, love for sports, and deep dedication to his family and friends.
Bob is survived by his children: Cody Combs (Miranda Edmonds) of Plattsmouth, NE, Tim Wetenkamp of Plattsmouth, and Alyce Combs of Omaha, NE; his significant other, Tammy Leger of Omaha; his mother, Alyce Combs of Creighton, NE; his brother, Steve Combs of Creighton; and his nephew, Andrew (Dana) Combs of Creighton, along with their daughters, Cecilia and Lula; and aunt, Edie Schaecher, of Greenfield, IA, as well as numerous cousins. He will also be deeply missed by his many friends, who were like family to him.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, Gary Combs, and his best friend, Jim Herdlitchka.
Funeral services for Bob will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 10:00 AM at First Lutheran Church in Plattsmouth, NE, with Pastor Ryan Maser officiating. Following the service, Bob will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Friday, August 16, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the church, with the family present to greet friends and loved ones.
Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation.
