Roger B. Carstens, 74, of Plattsmouth, Nebraska, passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at the Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha, Nebraska. He was born August 26, 1947, in Omaha, Nebraska to Willis and Mildred (Jergens) Carstens.
Roger grew up in Omaha, Nebraska and later went to work for Western Electric. It was during his time at Western Electric that he met the love of his life, Judy Carstens. The two were married on April 18, 1970 at Zion Lutheran Church in Omaha, Nebraska. They eventually made their home in rural Plattsmouth, Nebraska.
Throughout the years, Roger and Judy enjoyed entertaining at their home, traveling, camping, and simply spending time together. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, boating, caring for their dog Reggie, and spending time with family, especially their grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was truly the glue that held the family together, and every year he would happily plan the family reunions. Roger was an active member in the Blue Bird Club.
Roger is survived his daughter Gina (Adam Chambers) Bennett of Glenwood, IA, sons Steve Martin of Omaha, NE, Roger Carstens, JR. of Florida, grandchildren, Brittney (Stephen) McCarthy, Brandi (Alex Geisler) Bennett, Joey, Amber, Christopher Martin, Felicia Martin, Victoria, John, and Alicia Carstens, Isabelle and Elizabeth Carstens, great grandchildren, Stephen and Rory McCarthy, sister Deloris Wiese of Omaha, NE, brother Donnie (Bernice) Carstens, of Lincoln, NE, Roger and Judy’s dog Reggie, and former son-in-law, Steve “Okie” Bennett. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Judy, son Skip Martin, grandson Clint, brothers Melvin Carstens, Gene Carstens, Merle Carstens, and Ken Carstens, and his sister Marjorie Seffron.
Funeral services for Roger will be held Friday, April 29, 2022, at 11:00 AM at the Brian P. Harvey Funeral Home in Plattsmouth, Nebraska. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service at 10:00 AM at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Plattsmouth, Nebraska
Memorials are suggested to be sent to the family for future designation.
