Sheryl G Cobb

Sheryl G. (Whitmus) Cobb age 81 of Plattsmouth, NE passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Nebraska Medicine Bellevue.  She was born on October 28, 1935 in Huron, South Dakota to Harold and Gladys Whitmus.   Her family moved to Lincoln, Nebraska in 1938, where her brother Richard Marshall Whitmus was born in 1940.  She attended elementary, junior high school, high school and college in Lincoln.  Following her marriage in 1957 to Harold T. Holloway, Jr., she lived in Milford, NE, and later back to Lincoln.  Divorced in 1960, she married Stacy Swanberg in 1961.  The couple moved from Lincoln to Omaha, and also lived in Houston, Texas, and Topeka, Kansas.  Stacy passed away in 1973.  Sheryl married again in 1979 to Richard Cobb, Sr.  The couple designed and built a house at Beaver Lake, south of Plattsmouth, NE in 1993.  Richard passed away in 1995.  Sheryl moved to Plattsmouth in 2003, where she lived until her death.   Sheryl was active in her church, Murray Presbyterian, Murray, Nebraska, where she served as an elder and co-treasurer.  She had a 38 year career in the sciences of chemistry and microbiology, working for two state health departments, NASA, Creighton University, and St. Joseph Hospital, as well as three Veterinary Biological companies: Norden Laboratories, Armour-Baldwin Laboratories, and MVP Laboratories.  She is survived by her sister-in-law, Janis Whitmus, Fremont, CA, nephew, David Whitmus, Reno, NV; stepchildren, Susan Swanberg Meyer, David Swanberg, Richard P. Cobb, Jr., Catherine Cobb Montgomery and George Cobb; grandchildren, Margaret, Joseph, Benjamin and Robert Meyer, Josh, Kalimba Cobb Edwards, Kyle Cobb, Cassie Cobb Samaniego, Ryan and Sara Montgomery as well as many cousins and friends.   Preceded in death by her parents, Harold & Gladys Whitmus, brother, Richard Whitmus, husbands, Stacy C. Swanberg and Richard P. Cobb, Sr.      Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 11, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at Murray Presbyterian Church in Murray, Nebraska with Rev. Bill McConnell officiating.  Visitation will be one hour before the funeral at the Church.  Graveside Services will be Friday, November 11, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at Westlawn-Hillcrest Cemetery, 57th & Center Streets, Omaha, Nebraska.   Memorials may be directed to Murray Presbyterian Church  Arrangements by Brian P.
