Sonja L Swanson

Sonja L. Swanson, age 66, of Bellevue, Nebraska, passed away peacefully at her home on July 24, 2024. Born on July 19, 1958, in Nebraska City, Nebraska, Sonja was the cherished daughter of Charles R. and Patricia Ann (Hull) Estelle.

Sonja grew up in Plattsmouth, where she was a member of the Class of 1976 from Plattsmouth High School. Her career spanned roles as both a banker and a dedicated day care provider.

She found joy in watching Hallmark Channel movies, baking delicious treats, hunting for treasures at garage sales, and maintaining her home. Her love for cooking was matched only by her devotion to her family. As the matriarch and caretaker of her family, Sonja's life was a testament to her unwavering love and dedication to those she held dear.

A member of First Baptist Church, Sonja's faith in Jesus was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and infusing her days with grace and compassion.

She is survived by her children, Jesse (Angela) DeShane and Bonny (Dexter) Billups both of Bellevue, Nebraska, grandchildren, Dylan Brooks, Denay Billups, Dezeray Billups, Aaron Berlett, Felicity Campbell, Gio Baker, J.J. Baker, Destiny DeShane, Jesse DeShane, Jr., great grandchildren, Nevaya Brooks, Za’Riah Billups, Norman Alley III, Journee Billups, Jordyn Alley and Dylan Brooks, Jr. She is also survived by her best friend and significant partner Charles “Chuck” Wood of Plattsmouth, NE, sisters, Naomi “Susie” of Omaha, NE, Sharlee (Larry) Mosher of Lugoff, SC, brother, Lloyd Estelle of Omaha, NE.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Eldon Hull, grandmother, Marie Hull, mother, Patricia Hull, father Charles Estelle, uncles, James Hull, Frank Hull and Arthur Hull and cousin, Arthur Hull, Jr.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Plattsmouth, NE with Pastor Raymond Wicks officiating.
