Terry L Nickels

T erry Nickels, age 67 of Plattsmouth, Nebraska passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 6th, 2025, at the Bellevue Medical Center. Born the son of Robert Nickels in Omaha, Nebraska, on August 13th, 1957.

He was a proud graduate of Plattsmouth High School, class of 1975, and dedicated over 40 years of his professional life to Plant Maintenance at Nutrien in Weeping Water, NE. His work was his passion.  On February 21, 1995, Terry married the love of his life, Debra Dawn Baker, in Reno, Nevada. Their marriage was a testament to love and partnership until Debra's passing in 2016.

A man of many passions, Terry had an enduring love for classic cars, particularly Fords and Mercurys. He delighted in showcasing his prized vehicles at car shows, and was known for his enthusiasm for riding motorcycles, watching NASCAR, and enjoying classic Westerns. His love for music ran deep, but above all, he treasured moments spent with his family. A natural storyteller, Terry's conversations were often shared with those around him.

He is survived by his children: Robert Nickels of Lincoln, NE, John (Tina) Nickels of Plattsmouth, NE, Dustin (Britnee) Hoffner of Papillion, NE, Katie (Seth) Nunn of Omaha, NE, and Jake (Brianna) Nickels of Augusta, GA. His legacy also lives on in his eight treasured grandchildren: Hayden Nunn, Eli Nunn, Austin Nickels, Connor Nickels, Elizabeth Nickels, Emma Hoffner, Tristan Hoffner, and Amelia Nickels.  He is also survived by his loving siblings Bobie (Bob) Touchstone of Plattsmouth, NE, Buck (Jolene) Nickels of Plattsmouth, NE, Kim (Bob) Swank of Pine, AZ, and Dawn (Don) Hatcher of Columbus, NE, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Terry was preceded in death by his father Robert Nickels and his beloved wife, Debra.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Terry's life during a visitation at Brian P. Harvey Funeral Home, Plattsmouth, NE, on Tuesday, May 13th, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Memorial donations can be made to the American Automotive Experience in Kearney, Nebraska.
