Truman O. Berkland was born June 27, 1935, to Arthur and Gertie (Mansager) Berkland on a farm north of Cylinder, Iowa. He passed away July 13, 2021.

Truman and his family moved to a farm near Rodman, Iowa when he was in the 4th grade. He was baptized and confirmed at St John’s Lutheran Church at Depew, Iowa.  He graduated from Rodman High School in 1953.  He holds an undergraduate degree from Iowa State University (1957) and a Master’s in Business Finance from Colorado University.  He worked for Globe Union of Fort Dodge, Iowa; Martin Marietta of Littleton, Colorado; Boise Cascade of Idaho; Pacesetter in Nebraska; and Omaha Door and Window in Nebraska.

Truman and Karen were married 65 years and lived in 6 different states- Iowa, Colorado, Florida, Oregon, California, and Nebraska.  He enjoyed traveling, golf, baseball, softball, and many card games, especially Bridge.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Karen, and sons, Gene (Kim) of California, Todd of Salem, Oregon, Linda (daughter-in-law), Victor of Omaha, and daughter, Shari (Bob) Berkland-Zozaya of Gretna.  He was preceded in death his parents; sister Margie Ann Blake; infant twin daughters; son Curtis John Berkland; and grandson Braxton MacGregor Berkland.

Truman has 12 surviving grandchildren- Melissa Purkheiser (James); Danielle Berkland; Anjali Berkland; Haley Berkland; Sara Berkland; Lexi Berkland; Sylvie Bonillas (Anthony), Gabriel Berkland (Alexandra), Victor Berkland, Maverick Berkland, and Samuel Zozaya, and 3 great grandchildren Aubrey and Chloe Purkheiser and Apollo Berkland.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 31st, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church, Plattsmouth, NE.

Lunch will follow at the Plattsmouth Senior Center.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Plattsmouth Senior Center.
