They moved to Milwaukee where daughter Karen was born. Then it was off to Ft. Wayne to attend Indiana Tech and make gas pumps for Tokheim Corporation. While there, sons Kenneth, Kelvin, Kenton, and Kerry were added to the family.
The family moved back to Nebraska and settled in LaVista and Omaha for several decades. Wendel worked as a diemaker for many years at the family business, Keystone Dies, Inc. After his wife’s death, Wendel retired and lived with his daughter and son-in-law in Plattsmouth. In his later years Wendel enjoyed visiting Wild Horse Valley and reminiscing about his younger days.
