William "Bill" L Sutton

William  "Bill " Lewis Sutton age 82, of Plattsmouth, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Bailey Pointe Assisted Living in Plattsmouth, Nebraska.   Born on Wednesday, March 3, 1943, in Nebraska City, Nebraska, to Clarence E. and Zelma M. (Pierce) Sutton.

William graduated from Louisville High School in 1961 and embarked on a fulfilling career with Asplundh, where he dedicated 40 years of his life. Rising to the position of General Foreman, he was respected for his leadership and skill in overseeing numerous crews in line clearance tree trimming. A proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW).

On January 30, 1970, William was united in marriage to Barbara Jean Workman in Omaha, Nebraska. Together, they built a loving home in Monmouth, Illinois, where they shared many years together until Jean's passing. Known affectionately as "Mr. Fix-it," Bill had a passion for working on small engines and enjoyed fishing, camping, and boating. His hands were never idle, and he found joy in fixing and creating, activities that brought him peace and satisfaction.

He is survived by his sons, Kent (Marcia) Sutton of Plattsmouth, NE, and Bill (Lindsay) Sutton of Overland Park, KS; step-children, Michael Grell of Shell Rock, IA, Deby (Wes) Walters of Monmouth, IL, and Jeffrey Grell of Monmouth, IL; and his brother, Robert (Trudy) Sutton of Louisville, NE. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara Jean Sutton; his parents, Clarence Sutton and Zelma  Sutton; his step-daughter, Annette Yardley; and his siblings, Eileen Spreick, Wilbur Sutton, Kenneth Sutton, Ruth Sjogren, Richard Sutton, Marion "Pete" Sutton, and twin infant brothers, Marvin and Darvin Sutton.

In accordance with Bill’s wishes, no services will be held. He will be buried next to his wife Jean at Glendale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to the family for future designation.
