Bill Lee Paro, 91, of Plattsmouth, Nebraska, passed away at his home on August 30, 2024. Born on May 8, 1933, in Grand Island, Nebraska, Bill was the son of Allan and Minnie (Doberstein) Paro.

In 1951, he graduated from Grand Island High School. Bill was united in marriage to Sheila E. Whyte on August 16, 1958, in Grand Island, NE.   A proud veteran, Bill served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, stationed in Germany where he specialized in radar operations.. For over 30 years, Bill worked as a conductor for Union Pacific Railroad.  He also found joy as a horse caretaker at both Fonner Park in Grand Island and the Lincoln Race Course in Lincoln, Nebraska

A member of the American Legion and VFW chapters in the Grand Island and North Platte area, Bill was a man of great character and integrity. He had a passion for fishing, the outdoors, and gardening, caring for a beautiful vineyard and nurturing plants and trees from seedlings with care. His green thumb extended to both vegetables and flowers, and his love for nature was evident in everything he did.

He is survived by his children: Linda (Terry) Hovey of Plattsmouth, NE; Jim (Marjorie) Paro of Longmont, CO; Bob (Monie) Paro of Omaha, NE; and Chuck (Tammy) Paro of Greenwood, IN. Bill was a proud grandfather to Jenny (Dan) Fullerton, T.J. (Brandy) Hovey, Randy (Angela) Paro, Sam Paro, Tina (Lee) Paro, Tammi (Tim) Lybarger, Vanessa Hunnel, Tristan (Kyla) Paro, Jacob (Lexa) Murphy, Jered Murphy, Tyler Paro; Bill had 10 great-grandchildren; Logan (Keely), Crosby, Randy Jr, Manual, Kirya, Benjamin, Angelica, Lil Lee, Collin, and Cameron

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Sheila, his brothers George, Frank, and Robert, and his sister Bonnie Kutschkau.

A Graveside Services will be Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery with Chaplin Bud Bunn officiating.

The family suggests memorials be directed to the Arbor Day Foundation.
