Lawrence L. “Larry” Jensen, aged 77, of Plattsmouth, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday, March 22, 2024, at his cherished home. He was born on February 27, 1947, in Omaha, Nebraska to the late Robert D. “Bob” and Betty (Leonard) Jensen.
After completing school, he answered the call of duty and enlisted in the United States Navy on December 7, 1964, serving with honor until 1968 aboard the USS Coral, with two tours in the Gulf of Tonkin during the Vietnam War. Following his discharge, he married the love of his life, Kathy Messer, on June 7, 1969, in South Omaha. Larry's career path led him through various companies, including work in the packing houses of South Omaha, the bulk tank division at Fruehauf, and a fulfilling 20-year career at Lozier.
Larry and Kathy shared a passion for the open road, spending countless hours riding their Harley Davidson and enjoying trips to the Casino. Yet, amidst their adventures, Larry's remained devoted to his family. He was ever-present for his children and grandchildren. With a gentle demeanor, quick wit, and a flannel shirt for every occasion, Larry brought warmth and joy to all who knew him. He found delight in attending car shows, indulging in dilly bars, and savoring his favorite beverages—cream soda, Sunkist, and coffee.
Larry leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He is survived by his children, Shane (Jennifer) Jensen of Plattsmouth, NE, and Pamela (John) Jensen Pettis of Bellevue, NE; grandchildren, Erika (Skylar) Jensen, Alexis Jensen, Raquel (fiancé Makoor) Valadez, Ruben Valadez, Sean Pettis, Brittany Jensen, and Breanna Jensen; great-grandchildren, Emmalynn and Thoren Jensen, Makai, and AJ Arop; sisters, Sandra (Tom) Thomsen and Tina Deleon; and sister-in-law, Susie Long.
Larry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kathy Jensen; his son, Sean Jensen; sister-in-law, Vickie Wilson and his brothers-in-law, Jimmy Deleon and John Messer.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at 10:30 AM at the Harvey Funeral Home Chapel in Plattsmouth, with Rev. Michael McGregor officiating. Following the burial all are invited to a luncheon at DC's Waterhole. Visitation will take place on Friday, March 29, 2024, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM, with the family receiving friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Funeral Home.
Larry will be laid to rest in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for future designation.
